We already know Jidenna’s a “Classic Man,” but if we needed confirmation that he was also Prince Charming, now we’ve got it, thanks to these pictures from All Things Ankara.
Jidenna, along with some very beautiful models (including model and philanthropist Jessica Chibueze who acted as his queen) have broken the internet with the cinematic photoshoot, commissioned by site All Things Ankara for the site’s All Things Ankara Ball. The event, which also doubles as a celebration of Nigeria’s independence) takes place Oct. 17 at the Adele H. Stamp Student Union Building at the University of Maryland (more details at the website).
The photos, called “Nigerian Renaissance,” showcase combination of Nigerian and French culture. As the site states:
-The Beautiful Marriage of French Renaissance and Nigerian-African Aesthetics –
To display, expose & educate, the public and the world to the rich culture of a Nigerian Renaissance man and woman
though illuminating Ankara Print Fashion and vibrant craftsmanship.
The photos tickle the imagination, but they also help right some wrongs in the entertainment and beauty industries, mainly showing darker-skinned black women as desirable and beautiful. Both worlds have only started paying attention to the beauty in different hues with the success of Lupita Nyong’o and Viola Davis, but more work needs to be done in order for all women of all hues to feel valued in society.
