Are there any fans of the original Iron Chef here?
Takeshi Kaga (real name Shigekatsu Katsuta) is one of my favorite people ever. He was fabulously opulent as Chairman Kaga in Iron Chef, and then he went on to star in a great live action adaptation of one of my new favorite mangas, Death Note. The man is an accomplished thespian, playing Tony in West Side Story, Jesus in Jesus Christ Superstar and Jean Valjean in Les Miserables. He’s played in many other musicals and films, but to us in America, he will always be Chairman Kaga.
Since we’re talking about Iron Chef, I just thought I’d include one of my favorite episodes ever, the Valentine’s Day episode featuring Iron Chef Italian Masahiko Kobe. Kobe seems like the Pete Campbell of the group and its too funny to watch him literally give up during this challenge and put together some awful combinations.
