There are a ton of pictures and trailers that have the interwebs buzzing. Let’s get into it.
Month: July 2015
Another week, another Tyrant episode, and even though this one didn’t have as much of the Abudinnian politics as we’ve come to expect, the extreme focus on Bassam’s storyline wasn’t as boring as I expected it was going to be. In fact, it was quite fast-paced and, as I wrote in this week’s EW Community Blog recap, filled with surprisingly delightful character development for Bassam.
The ESPYs happened Wednesday night, and I tuned in. I came expecting just an awards show, and I did get a little irritated at who won what when it came to honoring the year’s best performances and athletes. But I left with tons of emotions after hearing the heartwrenching stories of those who have faced and are facing intense struggle.
Disclaimer (which I’m only putting here since this is a fraught time in the Sleepy Hollow community): If you’ve got something to say in response to this article, be respectful in the comments section. Otherwise, your comment’s getting deleted. I know a lot of fans are keyed up, so I just want it known that I am a critic and a fan, and my opinions are generally that of a critic who also happens to love the show she’s watching. If this notice doesn’t apply to you, please ignore it. I just have to put my foot down preemptively.
Okay, now that that’s done, let’s get on with the news of the day, Betsy Ross.
Viola Davis is smart, kind and important. If you’re a Viola Davis fan, you know what film I’m referencing with that specific introduction.
You probably know Dylan Marron’s name by now. If you didn’t know it from Welcome to Night Vale, then you certainly know it from his latest project, showing how white Hollywood films are and just how little representation there is for people of color.
I’ve been lagging on casting news! I’m sure there’s been more than this, but here’s what I’ve stashed up over the weeks.
There’s some grumbling going ’round the interwebs about Sleepy Hollow not making it to San Diego Comic Con as well as some grumbling about Betsy Ross possibly joining Team Witness (which isn’t going to happen). I’ll tell you why worrying about Betsy isn’t worth it and why the lack of Sleepy Hollow at Comic Con is actually great.
There are a lot of men to write about today. There’s so much to discuss that I have to put things in categories. Let’s get into it. (To catch up on this week’s Tyrant, read my latest EW Community recap!)
