How to Get Away with Murder was back in fighting form yesterday, which meant being a confusing ride filled with moments of Viola Davis slaying the scene with looks, attitude, and wigs. That sounds like I’m demeaning the show, but I’m not.

Jupiter Ascending is a film that looks as perplexing as it is magical. If all of the elements come together, this could become a big of a cult hit as The Fifth Element.
Maybe “False Imposition” is the first episode of Empire that I felt was just a little off. There are a lot of things in things to juggle in this show—this is a soap opera, a drama, and a musical all at the same time. But it seemed like it was a little difficult to handle the relationship dynamics between Cookie and Lucious and Anika and Lucious. Selma is still going strong, and I couldn’t be happier, especially since the free student screenings have finally come to Birmingham (as well as Trenton, NJ)! I was waiting on this to happen, since Birmingham is one of the epicenters of the civil rights movement. I am surprised Mayor Bell, who always has something to say about something happening “for the good of the city,” didn’t have a quote in the press release.
Empire is a show that’s soapy, dramatic, and fun. Of course, with a show like this, the costuming is going to come into play. Thankfully, the show takes a pages from Dynasty and Mad Men, especially if go by Tom and Lorenzo’s expert analysis of those characters’ closets.
The Empire characters say a lot about themselves through their clothes, so let’s see just what they’re telling us.
